From "Rope Burns"

album: Sometime

artist: Bill Barwick

Bill Barwick fans have been after him for years to do an album with just his voice and his acoustic guitar. He obliged with this new one, and it's a winner. Bill's voice is rich and deep. It's been described by his engineer as a "sub-woofer voice" and it's put to good use of this album of 15 songs, all but a couple of which are Western.

He opens with Mike Fleming's award-winning Sometimes this old cowboy gets the blues and several other contemporary tunes are included as well, like You just can't see him from the road, God must be a Cowboy and Baxter Black's Colorado Cowboy. But he also went back a few years to find a couple recorded by Tex Ritter, Wanderin' Star and Wayward Wind , and even further back for Tumbling Tumbleweeds, Blue Shadows on the Trail and Cool Water.

This is Bill's fourth album, and I like it better than the others, perhaps because it contains more Western song that it's predecessors. Bill's voice is a treasure (it's been featured in numerous commercials). I love to listen to him sing. My bet is that you will too. $10.00 tape, $15.00 CD ppd, from Bill Barwick, P.O. Box 100852, Denver CO 80250-0852.
